What is Technical Porcelain Tile?
Porcelain tile is made from a blend of fine-grain clays and other minerals to produce a very dense body, which makes it highly resistant to moisture, staining and wear.
Tiles are pressed under strong press pressure and fired at 1250 C°, which makes it totaly impervious and very hard. They do not absorb any stain and become resistant to frost.
Because of these features, porcelain tile will withstand years of heavy foot traffic in both interior and with facade exterior applications while maintaining its color and beauty.Une Tile Regulations
The UNE EN standards prepared by CEN (European Committe for Standardization) are applicable in all Europe. All type first choice of Ceramic tiles are subject to this standards.
UNE EN standarts also comply with the last version of ISO international standards too.
General Regulations
The harmonised standards EN 14411 provides all classifications and features of ceramic tiles. Also the new standart UNE EN 14545 provides the testing method of the standards set by EN 14411 standards. Ceramic tiles are divided into groups depending how they are formed and their water absorption level. According to forming, they are classified as A and B.
A Extruded tiles: They are formed by an extrusion machine and shaped by means of a mould and cutted into requested sizes.
B Dry Pressed Tiles: As raw powder, tiles are pressed by mould. Later, requested surface treatment can be applied.

These regulations defines the technical features of tiles as size, size tolerances and their appearences. SERANIT GRANIT SERAMIK products are produced according to dry pressed ceramic tiles and classified as Grup BIa E ≤ 0,5%.
SERANIT MANUFACTURES 100% PORCELAIN TILE
SERANIT, provides highest technical characteristics and latest aesthetic designs in all series.
Low Water Absorption
Seranit porcelain tiles have the lowest water absorption percentage.
Highly Resistant to Stains and Chemicals
Seranit porcelain tiles are resistant to all type of stains and chemicals because of their very low absorption and porozite.
Resistant to Temperature Changes
Suitable for all type, of ventilated facade and outdoor floor&wall areas.
Electricity Isolation
Because of low water absorption, porcelain tiles provide electricity isolation. Ideal to make antistatic areas.
Resistant to Abrasion and Heavy Traffic Use
Ideal for using in heavy traffic areas. Shopping malls, supermarkets, banks, metro stations, business centers and etc.
Highly Resistant to Mechanical Influences
Ideal for industrial use.
Easy Cleaning and Maintanence
Can be normally washed with water and alkaline based detergents.

Tile Edge and Surface Treatments
Edge Treatments
Calibrated (Monocaliber)
The process of calibrating and sizing tiles in mm dimensions with all type of Seranit surface finishes as matt, polished, lappato, relief and honed.Rectified
The process of square edge treatment during calibration of tiles. All the series in SERAHOME and STONE AGE concepts have rectified and calibrated edge treatment.
Chamfered
During the process of calibration, tile edges are treated with an aesthetic and narrow flat surface. In Seranit portfolio, all SERANIT series have chamfered edge.
Radius
Radius is rounding edge treatment of front up edges of covebase and stairtread accesories.
Surface Treatments
Matt
Tile's surface that is without any surface treatment after firing.
Polished
After firing, tiles are subjected to intensive mechanical abrasion to remove a certain amount of material for polished surface.
Semi Polished
After firing, tiles are subjected to moderate mechanical abrasion to remove a small amount of material for semi-polished surface.
Relief
During pressing, with a rough pad having variable intensity, tile is subjected to a surface design coming from pad.
Honed
After firing, during polishing process, tile surfaces are subjected to very short period of mechnical abrasion with special abrasives giving smooth and soft surface.
In this surface treatment, tiles are not polished but have very silky touch surfaces.

Slip Resistance
DIN 51130 SLIPPING STANDARD
Porcelain tiles have different slip resistance depending their surfaces. The usage area of tiles are related to their slip resistance values. These values are rated between 9 and 13, also indicated by R rating. The selection of tiles are subject to type of area and its slip resistance requirement.

Spanish Building Code - (CTE)
According to Spanish Building Code (CTE), tiles must have below minimum slip resistance values depending on their usage areas. The value is indicated by Rd rating. These values are determined using pendulum test method in comply with UNE-ENV 12633 standart and appenddix A.

Quality Tracking Code System on Boxes
1) The quality tracking code, which is printed on all boxes, enables to trace tiles from raw materials to packaging and analyse this process to obtain necessary informations when its needed.
2) At the quality selection, tiles are classified as 1st, 2nd and 3th quality. Only 1st. quality has color shade info as A, B, C, D, E printed on the box.
3) Different shades and qualities are packed and stocked separetly.
4) By means of quality tracking code system; once the code is provided, the same colour shade is to be supplied regardless its production date.
